Did you hear about 3D Crochet Portraits That Will Leave You in Awe? Despite their larger-than-life appearance, the original crochet creations of artist Akbar Erabiyan are actually made using 3D software. However, their realism is well worth a look!
Stunningly Realistic 3D Crochet Portraits That Will Leave You in Awe
For several years, the creative indulged in his passion and multiplied artistic projects. Having become a true expert in 3D, he recently stood out by creating striking 3D portraits of the protagonists of The Last of Us, derived from the video game of the same name.
But what’s special about this creative series is that the characters look like they were crocheted, not digitally. For those who don’t know, crochet is a rather old sewing practice that relies on a large needle with a notch to hold the threads and create pieces, collectibles, and clothing.
To obtain this realistic aspect, the Iranian artist begins by modeling the characters using Maya and ZBrush software, while he then comes to create texture games with Substance 3D Painter. Finally, the final rendering is made with the Houdini tool, allowing him to accentuate the details.
We let you discover below the 3D crochet portraits of Akbar Erabiyan, to be found on his Instagram account. And if you are a fan of real crochet creations, Amusing 3d Drawing Art By Joao A. Carvalho and Splendid 3D Embroidery Art of Insects by Claire Moynihan should please you.
