In one of the largest zoos of Novosibirsk in Russia there came a long-awaited wonder – the polar bear . Polar bears are the largest predators on the planet and produce their breed once every two or three years , and in an unnatural habitat even more rarely. And we had to wait for it for more than 40 years .
On the 11th of December happy parents Kay and Gerda gave birth to their firstborn . Novosibirsk zoo staff worried that the young mother might not accept the cub. But Gerda proved to be caring and responsible . During labour the female behaved naturally and calm . The tiny bear was born absolutely hairless and helpless . The cub will spend the first months of life together with its mother in the den until it gets stronger .
In January the cub opened its eyes and its ears went up . This sweet creature has a good appetite and is gaining weight well .
The cub has grown a bit older and its mother lets it out from the den into the fresh air for the first time.

Dad is not allowed to the young and its mother because the staff fears the male`s unpredictable reaction .
Now citizens and guests of Novosibirsk have an opportunity to watch this lovely creature.
The little thing is frisking enjoying the first snow in its life . It studies the world with caution but at the same time has fun playing with its mother.
Thank you very much to Anton Belovodchenko, who captured these adorable moments. So we could able to enjoy these moments too.
