The volume, mass, height, and length may all be used to calculate the weight of the heaviest land animals on Earth. The ten heaviest terrestrial animals are listed here, including the walrus, which spends a lot of time on land.
The Earth is home to a vast array of animals, from the tiniest insects to the largest mammals. When it comes to the heaviest land animals, there are several contenders for the title. Here, we’ll take a closer look at some of the world’s heaviest land animals.
Starting with the African elephant, which is the largest land animal in the world, weighs in at an average of 5,500-6,600 kg (12,000-14,500 lbs). These gentle giants can grow up to 3.3 meters (10 feet) tall and have a lifespan of up to 70 years.
Another heavyweight contender is the white rhinoceros, which can weigh up to 2,300-2,700 kg (5,000-6,000 lbs). These massive creatures are known for their distinctive square-shaped mouth and their imposing horn, which can grow up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length.
The hippopotamus is another animal that deserves a mention, as it can weigh up to 1,500-1,800 kg (3,300-4,000 lbs). Despite their rotund appearance, hippos are surprisingly agile in the water and can run on land at speeds of up to 30 km/h (19 mph).
These are just a few examples of the world’s heaviest land animals, but there are many more out there. From the mighty elephant to the burly rhino and the jolly hippo, these animals are a testament to the incredible diversity of life on our planet.

Cool!
However, I believe the Elephant Seal should be somewhere in the top 5…The biggest such animal weighed 11,000 lbs or 5,000kg.
Someone apparently still hasn’t caught up with the decade-old discovery there are two distinct species of “African Elephant” – Loxodonta africana and Loxodonta cyclotis. Presumably we’re talking about L. africana here; where does the more gracile L. cyclotis fit into the pecking order, I wonder?
“The heaviest terrestrial animals found on earth can be measured using a variety of methods. It could be defined as the largest by volume, mass, height, or length.”
If you are discussing ‘heaviest’, would that not by definition mean you are measuring them by weight (or mass)?…
This list is really not very accurate as the other comments indicate. Many species of full grown bulls (Angus, Holstein, Brahman, Galloways, Charolais) weigh in at over 2000 pounds. and how about the American bison and the grizzly bear?
What about an American Homo Sapien?
Thanks this was very interesting.

Eh, Im not too sure on how correct this is, cause I can say that the Elephant Seal can weigh up to 6,600 lbs.
Of course.. that’s from wikipedia, but theres pictures of them in the article and they are massive, 6,600 makes sense
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant_seals
im studying walruses at schoool
i shoudnt have said that
ive heard of a man who is fatter than the Gaur
he is my best friends dad
I know the top 10 biggest animals
Im suprised to read that maximum mass of a african elephant is 13,000 kg. This seems incorrect and exaggerated to me Wikipedia states that largest bull elephant was 10,000 kg and 13 feet at the shoulder.????
