The American artist and sculptor Marilyn Sunderland is a long time engaged in the fine arts. After creating wood and glass sculptures, she creates amazing delicate gourd carving art. She writes, “The gourd is a wonderful product of Nature and has been used by ancient cultures all around the world for bowls, musical instruments, water containers, baskets, dippers, and ornaments of art.”

Marilyn Sunderland was born in the town of Columbia, Missouri. Marilyn left her hometown immediately after the bachelor’s degree in art education from a local University. The last thirty years living in the American state of Utah. She painted with oil, acrylics and even ink and then finally went to the sculpture. Naturally, it happened for a reason.
