Well, Google has announced that it is rolling out a new custom themes section in Gmail “over the next couple of days” that will let users set their own background images. Gone are the days of choosing between Google’s theme choices. Now, your theme is whatever you want it to be.
The new photo background feature will be rolled out slowly over the next few days. In order to check either new themes feature have been pushed out to your account, simply go to your Gmail settings and select themes. Select the themes context menu item here to open the themes selection directly.
Go to Gmail themes option.
If the photo background features have been pushed to your Gmail account you’ll see the Light and Dark themes in a new section called Custom Themes.
While using your own background image you can chose either dark or light custom theme.
Now you have few options, you can choose background from Google’s featured images, upload pictures from your Picasa album, from your PC or simply paste a URL. That’s it.
