Goa is a wonderful state of India. It is extremely popular for its sun-kissed beaches, rare culture and vibrant festivals. The carnival celebrations date back to almost 500 years when Goa was a colony of the Portuguese. In those days the carnival had a very Portuguese essence, although there are traces of Portuguese in current celebrations, the general atmosphere of a place or situation and the effect that it has on people are now local and goan in taste and it is one of the most important events with the entire state of Goa being decked up with colourful streamers and ribbons.
