Well, this is a story of three cheetahs and one antelope. Photographer Michel Denis-Huot, who captured these amazing pictures on safari in Kenya’s Masai Mara in October last year, said he was astounded by what he saw. ‘These three brothers have been living together since they left their mother at about 18 months old,’ he said. ‘On the morning we saw them, they seemed not to be hungry, walking quickly but stopping sometimes to play together. ‘At one point, they met a group of impala who ran away. But one youngster was not quick enough and the brothers caught it easily.’ These extraordinary scenes followed, as the cheetahs played with the young impala the way a domestic cat might play with a ball of string.
‘They knocked it down, but then they lost interest,’ said Michel. ‘For more than 15 minutes, they remained with the young antelope without doing anything other than licking it or putting their paws on the impala’s head.’
Even more extraordinarily, this story has a happy ending – after one tense moment when it looked as though one cheetah would bite the impala on the neck, the youngster ran away.

Is it just me or no one can see the trick here? Look at the first image: the shadow of the head of the antelope on the cheetah’s head is missing and the cheetah’s tongue doesn’t cast the right shadow on the cylindrical surface of the antelope’s neck. Also, the size of the antelope is not consistent with the other photos. In the first image, her height is above cheetah’s shoulders while in the third one, antelope’s height is under the same reference. Who did this and why?
whoever did it if it is a trick, is an animal lover obviously. Why look for hidden meanings?
Hey, Y’all… I have a bridge you might like to buy from me…
In the first picture the antelope is standing up hill which would make the antelope appear taller than the cheetah. In the third picture the entelppe is standing on the same level as the cheetah. The shadows in the picture are long shadows cast on the ground. There are barely any shadows cast above the legs onthe cheetahs or the antelope. I’m a believer.
someone failed really. there was no trick. just take a look at that.
I think it’s really real. first pic’s antelope was taller cause he was far away from the screen and the cheetah was closer to the screen. it’s a normal concept in images. when someones goes far from your eyes that person would be much shorter and smaller.
It wouldn’t be unusual for this type of thing to happen, plenty of similar incidents have been documented. There is a very famous and true story (it’s been on National Geo a few thousand times!) about a lioness that lost her own cub and caught a young antelope and she looked after it and loved it, sadly the poor thing starved to death because it should still have been nursing from its mother, but the lion never ate it. I’ve seen my cats catch mice and play with it then let it go, its no different.
Thanks for another informative site. Where else may just I am getting that type of information written in such a perfect method? I’ve a mission that I’m just now running on, and I have been at the glance out for such information.
