bizarre human sculptures01

As you know sculptures are great works of art that many people automatically over look. People know that they are works of art but are so generally familiar with the idea of painting and photography as art that they do not stop to consider the fact that sculptures can be collectible pieces of art as well. Let’s take a look at bizarre and weird human sculptures which are created by an Australian artist Ron Mueck  and Evan Penny. I’m really impressed by his wonderful work because all the sculptures are looking absolutely real.

Why don’t these talented artists do sculptures of hot-looking women instead of old, wrinkled weirdos and fat ladies? (I bet they keep those ones hidden away in their studios)

  5. gyfs says:

Actually, a lot of these were done by Evan Penny.

These things are life size. I came across the lady in the folding chair in a very formal art museum. I felt I had wandered into some space I was not supposed to have entered, and worked my way around the room trying to ignore the lady in the chair. There was no way to the exit except to go close by her. I tried to avoid her by making conversation with the lady janitor. When she didn’t return my eye contact, reality quickly became clear, and I burst out laughing. Other patrons in the room came over to share their distress with the lawn chair and the books on the floor, and were shocked and amused. As we went back over to stand around the lady in the lawn chair in a group to admire the zaniness of it, the next group of patrons came in and looked away, clearly thinking we were all lunatics.

If the lady in the lawn chair was attractive or the janitor looked easy to approach, the joke on the art patrons would not work. On line we just soak up the eye candy, but when you see these things in person it affects your behavior. As an art exhibit, it hits home very effectively.
