And as far as Tabi's research is concerned....U could hv put a little more effort into it....
some of the readers would hv liked to know what some of those beautiful crystals are called!!!

David: Sorry to burst your bubble...but most of the 18 precious stones u mentioned are Semi-precious...and some of them are precious as for as rarity (The "B" chart crystals shown) but not commonly used in High ticket Items due to their softness; & as for as Lab grown crystals I didn't C any in the pictures; due to the fact that everyone of those pictures shown were of NATURAL crystals in their Natural Matrix....Except for the Last picture of which could B Nat. or "synthetic crystals" (Lab Grown) which have obviously been polished due to their mirror finish and High Luster & Yes I'll agree with your first 4 mentioned precious stones(considered to B the bread/butter stones) but the others mentioned some of which are Precious/Semi-Precious are not where the Jewelry Industry Makes it most money from though they make a substantial amount due to different markets and price ranges...
Yours truly....................MoeJoe94 Graduate Gemologist G.I.A. Class of 85 NYC

I am fairly sure (i could be wrong!) that some of those are lab-grown crystals. For instance, No 14 looks rather like copper sulphate to me! It has the right shape to it. These are beautiful, but hardly the 'most precious natural' stones out there. Off the top of my head and in no particular order, 18 true precious stones would be: Diamond, Ruby, Emerald (beryl), Sapphire, Tourmaline, Moldavite, Precious Opal, Carnelian, Peridot, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Rhodochrosite, Chrysoberyl, Zircon, Chrysocolla, Serpentine, Porphyry and many different kinds of agate/jasper.
